On March 25th, Velto Renewables hosted its first “Safety Day,” a dedicated event focused on safety, health, and sustainability within the renewable energy sector and other industries. Conceived as a forum for exchanging experiences and promoting best practices in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), the event brought together over 60 experts and professionals from various countries.
Held in Jorquera (Albacete), the gathering fostered an environment of collaboration and learning among Velto employees and business affiliates with the goal of strengthening a shared culture of safety prevention and operational excellence.

The day began with a visit to Velto’s El Redondo solar PV plant, where an emergency drill was conducted to assess the effectiveness of safety protocols in a real-world setting. Following this, attendees gathered at the main event venue, where CEO Lucas de Haro and Operations Manager Felipe Ropero welcomed participants and highlighted the core principles of the company’s HSE and ESG culture. María Pilar Medina, Mayor of the Municipality of Jorquera, also addressed the audience, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in rural areas and their positive impact on the local community.
Throughout the day, expert-led presentations and panel discussions featured contributions from industry leaders such as Quirón Prevención, SGS, and London Array. Topics covered included Velto’s HSE and ESG strategy, as well as safety measures in offshore wind projects. A key highlight of the event was a roundtable discussion with representatives from Eiffage and Solarig, focusing on safety management at Velto facilities. Attendees also shared case studies and strategies for continuous improvement.

The afternoon sessions featured insights from OHLA Group and Q Energy on HSE management in the construction of renewable energy plants in Spain and France. Additionally, Bühler Group provided a unique perspective on safety in the food robotics industry. The event concluded with contributions from members of Velto’s Board of Directors, reaffirming the company’s strong commitment to fostering a robust and company-wide safety culture.
With this first “Safety Day,” Velto Renewables takes another significant step forward in its dedication to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence, reinforcing its position as a key player in the responsible and secure energy transition.
